Ernest Mike Mayer

Ernest Mike Mayer, age 65, of Grand Chain, passed away at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at his home.

Mike was born April 30, 1958 in Union County, Illinois.

Mike was a 1976 graduate of Century High School in Ullin, Illinois. Mike and Kimberly Ann Gallivan Mayer were united in marriage on June 16, 1979. He had retired from the Department of Corrections. Mike was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed restoring antique pulling tractors. He was an avid outdoorsman. Mike was a member of the Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Olmsted, Illinois. He was the President of the Concord Cemetery in Olmsted. Mike was a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge #150 A.F. & A.M. and a member of the Abate Motorcycle Club.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kimberly Ann Gallivan Mayer; three daughters, Melissa (Dustin) Shepard of Jonesboro, Illinois, Andrea Mayer of Grand Chain, Illinois and Stacey Mayer of Herrin, Illinois; four grandchildren, Calen Williams, Brenden Mayer, Aiden and Jayce Shepard; sister, Linda (Jimmy) Myler of Paoli, Indiana and a host of nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Delbert and Janette Watson Mayer; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Bob Daniels;

his uncles, Bill Turner, David Watson and Richard McMunn; aunt Erma Watson.

Funeral sevices honoring the life of Mr. Ernest Mike Mayer will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, February 26, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Pastor Alan Wollenburg will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. til 1 P.M. Monday morning at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be held at 12 P.M. and will be accorded by the Vienna Masonic Lodge #150 A.F. & A.M. Interment will follow at the Concord Cemetery near Olmsted.

Pallbearers will be Larry Sauerbrunn, John Clark Jr. Phillip W. Dillow, Jori DeNeve, Glen McMunn, Dustin Shepard, Virgil Jones and Hunter Jones.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Aiden Shepard, Jayce Shepard, Calen Williams and Brenden Mayer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Concord Cemetery and may be mailed to Treesa Sauerbrunn, 682 Bethlehem Rd, Olmsted, Illinois 62970.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.
