Gustave Athans Jr., age 83, of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 9:07 A.M. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, Illinois.
Gustave was born December 10, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois
He had retired as a Foreman for the Eagle Sheet Metal Company in Chicago. Gustave enjoyed fishing, black & white classic movies, cooking, sports and playing cards.
He is survived by his children, Thomas and Joseph Athans, Mary (Todd) Smith, Nicholas (Linda) Athans, Antoinette (Jeff) Davault, James (Kim) Athans; grandchildren, Christopher, Samantha (Riley), David and Jacob; sister, Sandra (Dave) Sokolowski of Chicago.
Gustave was preceded in death by his former wife, Joan Athans (Rundio); his parents, Gustave Sr. and Antoinette Riske Athans; one sister, Charlotte Athans.
There will be no services. Per the family’s request cremation has been accorded.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.
