Alice Dyer Smock, age 86, of Grand Chain, Illinois passed away at 12:45 P.M. Friday, May 10, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born June 29, 1937 in Sherman, Illinois. She was a graduate of the Sherman High School. Alice and her late husband (Billy R. Smock Sr.) had retired after working many years together as over the road truck drivers. She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and never missed her grandchldrens games.
She is survived by one daughter, Machie ( Harry) Lang of Grand Chain, Illinois; four sons, Billy R. Smock Jr. of Unionville, Illinois, James A. (Tina) Smock ll of Vienna, Illinois, Harley E. (Vicki) Smock of Brookport, Illinois and Terry L. (Sharon) Smock of Midland, Texas; two sisters, Jean Hite of Festus, Missouri and Nora Baker of Karnak, Illinois; one brother, Gary Dyer of Farmington, Kentucky; five grandchildren, James Alan Smock ll of Carbondale, Illinois, Daniel ( Taby) Smock of Vienna, Illinois, Jennifer Lang of Perks, Illinois, April (Garrett) Runge of Grand Chain, Illinois and Wesley G. Smock of Johnstown, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, Madison Smock, Connor Smock, Khloe Rader, Harlee Runge, Maverick Lang, Amelia Lang and Victor Runge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy R. Smock Sr. (5-11-2005); parents, Garth Edgar and Pauline Isabelle Dyer; three brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Alice Dyer Smock will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, May 13, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Rev. Brent Miller will be officiating. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 11 A.M. till the service hour. Interment will follow at the Rentfro Cemetery in Grantsburg, Illinois.
Pallbearers will be Chucky Jeffords, Billy Mathews, Billy Carrigan, Garrett Runge and Jeremy Polivick.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.
