Judith Ann Duckworth Altenberger, age 84 of Karnak, Illinois passed away at 6:55 A.M. Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at her home surrounded by her children after a battle with cancer.
Judy was a loving mother and an excellent cook. Judy enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening and spending time with her family and church family. Judy was a faithful member of the Karnak Methodist Church, having taught Sunday School for many years. She was enthusiastic about sharing the Gospel. She supported Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child for over 30 years by packing hundreds of shoeboxes each year to present the Gospel to children across the world.
Judy was born September 25, 1940, on the Duckworth family farm in Perks, Illinois to Herman and Annell Cooper Duckworth.
Judy was raised on the farm where she lived the first 18 years of her life. She lived her adult life in Karnak, Illinois. She owned and operated the Triple T Cafe in Karnak from 1976 to 2002. Judy was well known for her homemade meals, pies, donuts and cinnamon rolls.
Judy is survived by three daughters, Tina (Mark) Canada of Monmouth; Toni Adams of Hampton, Georgia; Terri Kotter of DeSoto, Missouri, one granddaughter, Megan Canada of LaGrange Park, a brother, Jim (Vurtis) Duckworth of Perks; a sister, Sharon (Wesley) Altenberger of Metropolis, as well as other dear relatives and friends. She will be missed by her family, friends and church family.
The family would like to thank all those who cared for us while we cared for our mother. We were overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the community. The family sends a special thank you to those that prayed for us, fed us, sent flowers, visited and provided equipment while we cared for mom during her last days. You are all loved and appreciated more than you know and you made all of us feel loved.
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Judith Ann Duckworth Altenberger will be held at 12 P.M. Saturday, April, 26th 2025 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. Reverend Steve Heisner will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Meisehheimer/ Mount Olive Cemetery near Dongola, Illinois. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 A.M. till the service hour at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be, Mark Canada, Megan Canada, Gary Slusher, James Althoff, Jonathan Althoff and Ethyn Bradley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jasper Sissom and Cooper Sissom.
