Mary Carter

Mary Huitt Carter, age 74, of Karnak, Illinois passed away at 3:15 A.M. Sunday, July 14, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mary was born November 2,1949 in Cairo, Illinois. She was a 1967 graduate of the Egyptian High School. Mary was very involved in FHA (Future Homemakers of America) and the March of Dimes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Karnak. Mary was a lifelong educator having retired after 38 years of teaching from the Century Unit District 100 School near Ullin, Illinois. Mary loved to cook and be a homemaker. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Carter; son, Jonathan Carter (Melissa) of Paducah, Kentucky; daughter, Sarah Carter of Karnak, Illinois; stepson, Robbie Carter of Dayton, Ohio; stepdaughter, Julie Brooks of Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Rebecca Jones of Wingo, Kentucky; two brothers, Richie and Kevin Taylor of Paducah, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kennedy Pearl, Khloe Pearl and Liam Alexander.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Randall and Mary Pearl Thompson Huitt.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Mary Huitt Carter will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, Illinois. Rev. Paul Sadler and Rev. Micah Spicer will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Anderson Cemetery near Boaz, Illinois (Massac County). The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 til 8 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Carter, Richie Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Micah Spicer, Mike Jones and Jack Taylor.

Honorary pallbearer will be Liam Alexander.
